Back to audio books..

Okay so since I have been gone for a while and I have been really busy with work and school. I have had to get my reading fix by going back to audio books. I just have no time anymore to get a book and sit and read. So then next best thing I found were audio books. I always have my phone and headphones and I can listen almost any were. I also seem to get threw the book a lot faster than if I was reading myself perhaps because someone else is reading it to me and I am just listening to it. I will keep you all posted on how my audio book journey goes.

Last big book push of 2013

Hey guys and girls, so I have been absent for a while and that is because work has not permitted enough time to read or write (bummer). But I did finish two of my last books for 2013. I do feel semi accomplished. I had to but in a lot of time in order to push threw those books before the year ended. I have not meet the large read goal I have set for myself. It was a good effort. Tomorrow starts 2014 and I will be more modest with my goals, all that matters is that I did finish reading the two I started before Christmas. Stay tuned in 2014 as I bring you more news about books and literature in 2014!

My gush on NOS4A2 by Joe Hill

Okay so I just read the best book "NOS4A2" by Joe Hill. It is a must read for anyone who loves the sci fi part of reading this book is a roller coaster of emotions. I love the fact that Joe drew on so many great elements for this book. I found my self just going on and on reading non stop about Charlie Manx and Vic McQueen and the deep inscapes of there minds.

For starters the title "NOS4A2" is German for vampire, and the book really revolves around two characters Vic McQueen and Charlie Manx. Okay now here is were the book gets so interesting.. both of the characters have the ability to create a world of there own inside there head threw the use of different items, Vic has bikes and well Charlie Manx has a vintage wraith Rolls Royce.

Well you know how they say how "To much of a great thing can be bad?" that is the case with both characters, Vic uses a bridge to help find the lost and the result is a sharp pain in her left eye, why the left eye? According to Maggie Leigh another character in the book with the same ability as Vic "All creativity is created by the right side of the brain which controls the left eye." So with Manx his vintage car his is "tool" and the result is that the car makes him younger and younger and a shell of a man with no emotion.

Charlie discovered Vic when she was just a kid, and he was surprise to find another person with the same talent he had, she was the only one to escape Manx and not be taken to "Christmasland" Manx's twisted little fantasy world.. As time passes on Charlie spends time chasing down Vic, until he finds her, kidnapped her son with a plan to take him to "Christmasland". The final showdown of these two characters was amazing, speaking of amazing I was held in a moment of awe at the ending.. It was a great way to end the book Mr. Hill. I truly enjoyed this book and I will re read it in 2014!

Nook vs Kindle

In today's world of technology physical books are slowly being replaced with e books and audio books in some cases. If you have been leaning towards getting a e reader you may be torn between Barnes and Nobel's "Nook" e reader and Amazon's "Kindle" reader. Which is the right one for you? It all depends on what you want to get out of the device. I personally have the Barnes and Noble "Nook HD tablet" and I do enjoy it. I only use it for books and gaming every now and than.

I was looking at the different devices and I actually think I might switch to the newest kindle, it's the kindle paper white and it's really light and really thin. Like I said there are advantages to each device. With the nook one of the key things is that with the nook you can expand your storage to up to 32 GB while with the Amazon Kindle I don't believe that you can. Amazon's kindle allows you to use your amazon login to do more of your purchasing of books. Barnes and Noble makes a excellent reader device, I have had every model of the Nook device and I really enjoy it.

I have been a little hesitant to try the kindle but what is the harm in trying something new? Only thing that I do not like is that I will have to re buy all of my books that I have threw Barnes and Noble. So I may just stick with Barnes and Noble. If you are looking to invest in a e reader or a tablet I would defiantly do your research before committing to a tablet or e reader. Make sure though that you do find one that you can say at the end of the day "Hey I do like this".

Boring books

Ok, so I just came across a book that reviews said that it was awesome and that it was a recommended great read.  However I went to the library to the book that was recommended, the title of the book was "The Interestings" by Meg Wolitzer. I really did want to enjoy this book, but for some reason I could not get into it because of the character development. I really did not care for it. It seem to drag on without a good sense of direction.

Sad to say that I did not finish this book I did really want to like it, I had high hopes for this book because it was given such great reviews. That just goes to show that reviews are sometimes a liar, and people after all do have very different taste in books. I do hope that my next read will be a lot better currently I am in the market for a better read. If anyone has any suggestions let me know!

Plowing threw books equals a zombie

Okay so it has been a while since I got on my book blog but I have been busy trying to plow threw this book "The Marriage Plot" by Jeffrey Eugenides. It's one of those books that if you plow threw it too hard it will give you a mild headache. It's a amazing book don't get me wrong but I feel like I need a break from it with a nice Sci Fi book about magic..

I can only take so much of a deep book, I did think about getting my auidible membership back to help me mustard threw these books, but I just had to put the book down because I was getting to a zombie state.. Well I really need to find some breeze books to plow threw to take my mind of the epic that I am reading. Man I really love Eugenides as a writer but he writes with so much passion that you really need a break. So until next time I will keep on reading!!
